I just broke my Ubuntu Hardy setup so badly it’s not even funny.

I did a system update a couple of hours ago, and that happened to upgrade libc6. Those of us who know what libc is know that it’s pretty central to the system’s operation. Now, the new version also happened to be broken. So… no new programs would start and things started throwing random segfaults. I figured I’d reboot the system… and the system refused to boot. 30 minutes later, I had a fresh installation and I was back in action. I pinned libc6 to the older version, just to make sure I would not accidentally upgrade it again.

Guess what? I have not learned my lesson yet. Unstable software is just so much fun to use…
